The Book Industry Study Group (BISG) Business Solutions Committee is asking bookstore book buyers to participate in an online survey, "Book Buying Process and Trends Survey," the results of which will be compiled in a report that will help foster a better understanding of the purchasing process. The online form should take 10 to 15 minutes to complete.

BISG is hosting the survey and is using a professional survey company to tabulate the results. The survey can be found at kurosawa.capv.com/bookbuyer.htm. All participants who give BISG contact information will be entered into a drawing for an Apple iPod and will receive the completed results of the survey when they become available. All questionnaires will remain confidential.

Fran Toolan, BISG's survey chairperson, noted, "This survey was pulled together with the help of many of the members of ABA's [Bookseller] Advisory Committee, and the initial findings have been very interesting. We are looking forward to pulling these results together in a more formal manner, and I'm sure based on the initial findings that [participants] will find those results equally interesting."

The Book Industry Study Group (BISG) is a trade organization of companies related to the business of books, publishers, retailers, wholesalers, printers, agents, and others in the industry. BISG maintains a liaison relationship with ABA.
