Children’s Book Art Auction Tickets Still Available
Tickets for the 20th annual Children Book Art Auction and Reception at BookExpo America can be purchased online or at the door of the River Pavilion of the Jacob Javits Convention Center. The event will be held next Wednesday, May 28, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
A sample of the dozens of original works up for auction can be viewed here.
Bestselling author and illustrator Jarrett J. Krosoczka is the honorary chair of this year’s event. In addition to bidding on a great array of children’s book art, the auction will feature a special tribute to Dr. Seuss and an entertainment and comedy show, organized by Shannon Hale and Michael Buckley and featuring auction honorary chair Jarrett J. Krosoczka, David Levithan, Jon Scieszka, Pseudonymous Bosch, Melissa de la Cruz, Brandon Mull, Jason Reynolds, Scott Westerfeld, Libba Bray, Tom Angleberger, Maryrose Wood, Jennifer Holm, Paul Zelinsky, and Melissa Guion.
Tickets for the auction are $105. They may be ordered here or purchased at the door. ABFFE members and bookseller members of the ABC Children’s Group can attend for free but should register here.
The auction is sponsored by the American Booksellers Foundation for Free Expression (ABFFE) and the ABC Children’s Group at ABA. Proceeds will support ABFFE’s defense of the free speech rights of kids.
Booksellers and publishing professionals who would like to volunteer at the auction should contact auction manager Inessa Spencer.
