The American Booksellers Association's Education Task Force will meet on Saturday, November 13, in Minneapolis to consider the results of the "ABA Education 2005 Survey." The survey to gather bookseller input to help guide ABA's future educational programming was distributed over the last few months to ABA member booksellers by e-mail, through BookWeb.org, and at the fall regional trade show meetings. Friday, October 29, is the last day for booksellers to fax surveys to the association.

Next week, ABA staff will begin tabulating the results of the survey to present to the task force, which is composed of eight booksellers: Becky Anderson of Anderson's Bookshop in Naperville, Illinois; Lance Festerman of Bound to be Read in St. Paul, Minnesota; Carole Horne of Harvard Book Store in Cambridge, Massachusetts; Carla Jimenez of Inkwood Books in Tampa, Florida; Peter Schertz of Maria's Bookshop in Durango, Colorado; Gayle Shanks of Changing Hands in Tempe, Arizona; Barbara Theroux of Fact & Fiction in Missoula, Montana; and Ken White of SFSU Bookstore in San Francisco.

The survey and task force were created to help ABA fulfill the number-one goal of ABA's Strategic Plan: "To provide independent professional booksellers with access to the education, information, and business services they need to succeed in a changing world."

Booksellers who would like to ensure that their voices are heard can download the survey by clicking here. The survey should be faxed to the attention of Kristen Gilligan, ABA's associate director of programming and constituent groups liaison, at (914) 591-2724 by October 29.
