On Thursday, June 5, Good Morning America announced that Samaritan (Knopf) was the latest book chosen by the show's "Read This!" book club. The whodunit by Richard Price was a top ten pick on the January/February 2003 Book Sense 76.

In nominating the title for the Book Sense 76, Alayne Hopkins of Ruminator Books in St. Paul, Minnesota, said, "In this humanly real novel, Ray Mitchell returns to the housing project where he grew up, intending to help, but his efforts result in a vicious attack and a battle for his life. Price explores the shaky equilibrium between the eternal struggle to be a good person and the demands of personal relationships and a very troubled society, a balance that can be upset by the slightest push in either direction."

GMA's "Read This!" segment features one book club recommending a book of its choice to another book club and GMA viewers. This month, The Officers' Spouses Book Club recommended Samaritan to the Balancing the Books Book Club. For more on this "Read This!" book club pick, click here.
