IndieCommerce Institute Registration Underway

Printer-friendly versionPrinter-friendly version

On Friday, June 28, the American Booksellers Association opened registration for IndieCommerce Institutes (ICI) to be held in San Francisco and New Orleans in conjunction with the fall regional trade shows. Each institute will feature two breakout tracks: a Main Session that will address the needs of most users and an Advanced Seminar appropriate to very experienced users. Programming will also include moderated panel discussions, a Kobo update, and lunch.

The first Institute will be held on September 19 in conjunction with the Southern Independent Booksellers Alliance trade show at the Sheraton New Orleans. The second will be on October 2 at the Best Western Plus Grosvenor Hotel in San Francisco in conjunction with the Northern California Independent Booksellers Association show.

IndieCommerce staff will be available the day before each institute for individualized one-on-one meetings, and the evening before the start of each ICI will feature an opening reception.

Attendance at each institute is capped at 75 participants, and registration is limited to three booksellers per member company. For those registering before August 1, the fee will be $99 per attendee for the Main Session and $130 per attendee for the Advanced Seminar. (Beginning August 1, the registration fee will be $120 for the Main Session and $150 for the Advanced Seminar.)

Registration for both institutes closes September 4, and all registration fees are nonrefundable.

The Main Session is intended for most IndieCommerce users. This session will include a new feature overview; programming that focuses on order processing, custom order status, custom products, and report generation through views; and design tips to improve a store’s site.

The Advanced Seminar is intended to facilitate a group discussion among advanced users about their work supporting their respective sites. Enrollment in the seminar is limited to one attendee per store. IndieCommerce staff will evaluate information provided by each registrant and will assign Advanced Seminar participants.

The day will begin and end with plenary sessions for all attendees. The moderated panel discussions will look at topics ranging from staffing requirements and workflows to best practices for promoting an e-commerce website.
