IndieCommerce Tips and Training

Below is the latest update on IndieCommerce from the IndieCommunication of October 7.

Color Coding Events Calendars

Stores can color code events calendars (monthly and weekly views) with top lines to allow for easy organization and user navigation. For example, use a blue line on days with “Author Signings” and a yellow one on days with “Story Time.” A great example is how WORD Bookstore indicates which of its two locations is hosting an event: blue for Brooklyn, orange for Jersey City.

Focus on Kids Books

Gift time is right around the corner and stores can highlight a great selection of children’s books by linking to the 2015 ABC Best Books Catalog. Follow this link from your IndieCommerce site to access the catalog: http://abatest.d7.indiebound.com/holiday/ABC/index.html.

Note: The entire link, including the site domain, must be used for it to work.

Webinar Feedback

Overall feedback on the first two webinars has been positive, with one bookseller commenting, “The presenters were very prepared and I was able to learn new solutions!”

The next webinar, “Order Processing, Part 2,” will take place on October 21; signup opens on October 14. Part 1 was filled to capacity, so don’t delay in signing up. The limit is 30 people per webinar.

Booksellers are encouraged to share their thoughts, questions, and suggestions with the IndieCommerce team.
