Nominate With Love

This Friday, December 8, is the deadline for the Book Sense 2007 Valentine's Day Top Ten.

Valentine's Day continues to grow as an opportunity for retailers. The National Retail Federation projects that spending this year will reach $13.7 billion, an increase from total holiday-related sales of $13.19 billion in 2005.

Solid participation is needed to create a strong and balanced list, and Book Sense Picks Editor-in-Chief Dan Cullen encourages booksellers to send in nominations for frontlist and backlist titles -- either adult or children's titles -- that would make good Valentine's Day selections. Nominations may be sent by e-mail to [email protected], with "Picks" in the subject line, or via a convenient online nomination form.

"Knowing how busy this season is for booksellers, we send extra thanks for taking the time to send in nominations for the upcoming lists," said Cullen. "Each year, there is a great combination of adult and children's titles on the Valentine's Day list -- last year ranging from The 100 Best Love Poems of All Time to The Prince's Diary. I hope we hear from a wide range of booksellers about their favorites."

Looking ahead, the deadline for the March Book Sense Picks List is January 5, 2007.
