Nominating Committee Seeks Candidates for ABA Board

The American Booksellers Association Nominating Committee, chaired by Cathy Langer of the Tattered Cover Book Store in Denver, Colorado, is searching for qualified candidates to serve on the ABA Board of Directors. Any ABA member may submit nominations.

Among other qualifications, a candidate for the Board of Directors must have at least three years of recent experience as the owner or employee of an ABA member bookstore with a storefront location that is operated according to sound business principles. In addition, it is desirable that candidates have at least two years of experience as an active volunteer in ABA or a regional booksellers association or other constituency organization, or possess similar experience.

The terms of three members of the nine-member board expire each year, and at least one of the three candidates cannot have served on the current board. Board members are eligible to be elected for two three-year terms.

The Nominating Committee asks that as much information as possible be provided about candidates, and that nominations be submitted as soon as possible but no later than October 28, 2005. All nominations will be held in the strictest of confidence.
