The second pick of the revived Oprah's Book Club is Cry, the Beloved Country by Alan Paton (Scribner). The announcement was made on Monday, September 29.
Oprah's Book Club Web site describes Cry, the Beloved Country as "a novel that will open your minds and your hearts to the beauty of South Africa -- the struggle and the spirit of its people. It is the richly told and profoundly compassionate story set in the troubled and changing South Africa of the 1940s."
