Registration for Hotel ABA at BEA 2006 Opens

Bookseller members of the American Booksellers Association planning to attend BookExpo America 2006 may now register for Hotel ABA/Washington, D.C. -- The Doubletree Crystal City in Arlington, Virginia. Just minutes from the Washington Convention Center and downtown D.C., the hotel features a special room rate of $129 per night that is exclusively for ABA member booksellers, plus:

  • Complimentary coffee and pastries each morning
  • A series of publisher-sponsored receptions each evening
  • An exclusive ABA member hospitality suite, providing a convenient meeting place for booksellers
  • A special ABA concierge table in the hotel lobby, where booksellers can pick up BEA badge-holders, copies of the BEA exhibitors' guide, updated information about convention events, and a welcome package with special surprises from ABA and publishers
  • A special dedicated shuttle bus service between the hotel and convention center
  • ARCs for booksellers each night

BookExpo America will be held from Wednesday, May 17, through Sunday, May 21, 2006, at The Washington Convention Center, and the special hotel room rate will be available to ABA member booksellers from Monday, May 15, through Monday, May 22. Booksellers planning to take advantage of the special "ABA Legislative Day" on May 17 (from noon to 6:00 p.m.) and ABA's full day of free educational programming on May 18 should plan on arriving in Washington by Tuesday evening, May 16, or by Wednesday morning.

The hotel is expected to fill up quickly, so ABA is encouraging booksellers to book a room as soon as possible.

There are two ways for ABA member booksellers to book a room.

  • Book Online: Booksellers will need a special code that is accessible by clicking here. (A BookWeb username and password is required to access this page. ABA member booksellers who do not already have a user name and password can create one by clicking on "Register for BookWeb" on the site's homepage. (An ABA ID number is required to register for BookWeb.)
  • Call-In Reservations: Booksellers can also book a room by calling ABA's Margaret Petrie at (800) 637-0037, ext. 6614. She will verify ABA membership and book the room.
