Scholastic Asks for Reports of Potter On-Sale Violations

With the July 21 release of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows less than 10 days away, booksellers are reminded that on-sale violations should immediately be reported to a Scholastic rep or to Scholastic headquarters directly at (800) 558-8341.

In July 2 letter "to all concerned," Lisa Holton, president of Scholastic Book Fairs and Trade, wrote:


To help keep the magic for these millions of fans, we ask for your help from now until 12:01 a.m. on July 21 to preserve this moment so that all fans can experience the magic together:

  • Please remember that all boxes of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows are to remain sealed and in a secure location that is not visible to the public until 12:01 a.m. on July 21.

  • If a box is opened or a carton or book is visible it could potentially spoil the magic for millions of fans who are waiting to get their book at 12:01 a.m. on July 21.

  • If you hear of or see anybody opening boxes or obtaining actual books prior to 12:01 a.m. on July 21, it is urgent that you contact your Scholastic rep immediately. You can also reach Scholastic Headquarters directly at (800) 558-8341.
