This month, the American Booksellers Association welcomed two new staff members whose skills will help ABA in its mission to provide the best services, information, and education to member booksellers.

Liz Button has joined ABA’s content team as a writer/researcher for Bookselling This Week. Button will also play a role in developing educational content in support of the Winter Institute, Children’s Institute, BookExpo America, and other events.

With a background in journalism, publishing, and bookselling, Button is happy to be using her experience to “connect indie booksellers with each other and with the book community at large by sharing the latest business trends, networking opportunities, and industry news,” she said.

Button graduated from Bowdoin College with a degree in English, followed by publishing internships at W.W. Norton and Grove/Atlantic. She also worked at Borders for a year and a half, until the chain closed in 2011, and was a writer for Mahopac News, The Rye City Review, and The Daily Voice in New York.

Booksellers will have the opportunity to say hello to Button next month at Winter Institute 10 in Asheville. “I look forward to continuing to build personal relationships within the national independent bookstore community so I can deliver the news booksellers need in the most relevant, accessible, and engaging form possible,” Button said.

Liz Button can be reached at (800) 637-0037, ext. 7520, or via e-mail.

As the newest member of ABA’s technology team, Naya Moss offers general technological assistance to ABA’s staff and plays a key role in managing the behind-the-scenes efforts that allow member booksellers to reach ABA by phone and e-mail and to access all of the important information on BookWeb.org.

“I hope to introduce some new efficiencies and methodologies to ABA’s technology team and to use my technical, programming, and database management knowledge to be a help in all possible areas,” said Moss of her new position as office tech support.

While studying computer information technology and web development at Southern New Hampshire University, Moss completed more than 450 hours of hands-on training and earned her A+ and Network+ certifications from Per Scholas technical institute. She also interned as a technical teaching assistant at Per Scholas and as office technical support at The Black Car Fund, where she quickly became junior systems administrator.

Moss comes to ABA after founding her own computer repair company in 2011, LilyMint, which offers web design services; cell phone, tablet, and computer repairs; and one-on-one basic technology lessons. In starting her own company, she combined her love for fashion, art, and design with her drive to learn the most she can about technology and web development. “I love combining art and technology,” said Moss.

Naya Moss can be reached at (800) 637-0037, ext. 7543, or via e-mail.
