This spring, Eric Carle's classic character The Very Hungry Caterpillar turns 40, and to commemorate the occasion Penguin Young Readers Group is sponsoring a special ABA gift card.

Booksellers can begin ordering free, limited edition "Are you very hungry for books?" gift cards at noon EST on Monday, February 2, via the ABA gift card order site.

Penguin Young Readers Group is covering the cost of the card (22 cents), the transaction fee (50 cents per card), and the holder (12 cents). Quantities are limited per ABA member to 100 generic cards and matching holders or 250 imprinted cards and holders. The usual fee for imprinting will be charged as will all other ABA Gift Card Program costs and fees, including increments and shipping and handling fees. Orders will be filled on a first-come first-served basis.

Stores that place their order on February 2 will have their generic cards within two days and imprinted cards within three to five working days. Cards will be delivered in plenty of time to start selling the cards to your customer on February 20 in anticipation of the first-ever Very Hungry Caterpillar Day on March 20.

Questions about The Very Hungry Caterpillar gift card should be addressed to [email protected]. Booksellers must be current ABA members and have a signed ABA Gift Card Program Letter of Agreement on file to be eligible for this offer.
