Winter Institute 14 Registration Now Full

The American Booksellers Association’s 2019 Winter Institute, to be held January 22–25, 2019, at the Albuquerque Convention Center in Albuquerque, New Mexico, is now sold out. Registration opened on Monday, September 17.

Booksellers can fill out the registration form on BookWeb to add their names to the waitlist; booksellers will be notified on a first-come, first-served basis if spots become available for the event.

Booksellers who were not able to register due to Hurricane Florence are invited to e-mail ABA Member Relationship Manager Daniel O’Brien as soon as possible, and ABA will attempt to make accommodations.

In addition, the January 22 Acoma Pueblo tour is sold out, and the Santa Fe day trip is nearing capacity; booksellers are encouraged to register for the Santa Fe trip as soon as possible.

Registered booksellers whose plans have changed can cancel their event or tour registrations by e-mailing [email protected]. A full refund will be offered through November 16, after which no refunds will be given.

There are four hotels serving Winter Institute attendees at a rate of $129 per night: the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Albuquerque, the Embassy Suites by Hilton Albuquerque Hotel & Spa, Hotel Andaluz, and the Hyatt Regency Albuquerque.

All hotel reservations and cancellations must be coordinated through Albuquerque-based housing bureau HBC Event Services. As the hotel blocks fill up, booksellers are encouraged to contact HBC Event Services to be added to a waitlist rather than contacting the hotel directly to make reservations outside of the block.

Finally, booksellers who have browsed the schedule for the upcoming institute and who have experience in any of the planned education session topics are invited to e-mail ABA Education Manager Lisa Winn to discuss possible collaboration.
