Workshop to Present Business Essentials for Opening or Buying a Bookstore

The Bookstore Training Group of Paz & Associates is offering the workshop retreat “Owning a Bookstore: The Business Essentials,” from September 1519 on Amelia Island (near Jacksonville, Florida). Aimed at anyone who dreams of becoming a bookstore owner, the program will present the best practices of successful booksellers as well as strategies and contacts to help students launch a thriving independent bookstore.

Key topics will include start-up costs, effective marketing practices, the importance of store design, choosing a computerized management system, selecting opening inventory, buying and inventory management, and more.

Co-sponsored by the American Booksellers Association and facilitated by Donna Paz Kaufman and Mark Kaufman, the program will present proven retail strategies that apply whether students are planning to open a general bookstore, a children’s specialty shop, a bookstore café, a new and used bookstore, or any other type of specialty bookstore.
