Get Ready for Independent Bookstore Day
With Independent Bookstore Day (IBD) just three days away, booksellers should keep in mind a few final items to promote the event and the day’s special offers:
- Join IBD ambassador Celeste Ng for a Twitter party on April 26 at 11:00 a.m. Pacific Time — look for #BookstoreDay.
- Send in photos for the IBD display contest by May 1. Stores are invited to submit two to four good-quality photos of their store’s window or in-store display promoting Independent Bookstore Day for a chance to win $300.
- Share Libro.fm’s special offer of free audiobooks for customers on April 28. Libro.fm has created a complete Bookstore Day guide to help stores plan for the event, which includes links to marketing materials, promotional copy, a snapshot of how to sign a customer up for Libro.fm in under 60 seconds, and tips for promoting the offer online and in stores.
- List your plans for the day on the Independent Bookstore Day spreadsheet.
- Share the interactive Independent Bookstore Day map to show off the 500-plus bookstores that will be selling the event’s special literary-themed merchandise.
