A nominee for the Board of Directors must be a current owner or employee of an ABA member independent bookstore and have at least three years of recent experience as owner or employee.

Any ABA member may nominate a qualified candidate to stand for election to the ABA Board of Directors in 2019; self-nominations are also welcome.

“Booksellers often ask me about what the board is working on and what the job of the board is,” writes Sindelar. “Nothing explains this better than our work each summer.”

The Bookstore Training Group of Paz & Associates will host “Owning a Bookstore: The Business Essentials,” a workshop retreat for new and prospective owners, from August 26-29 on Amelia Island in Florida.

Until November 1, non-member booksellers will have the chance to test-drive membership in the American Booksellers Association for free by signing up at one of the 2018 fall shows or on ABA’s website.

Publishers Weekly continues to offer ABA member booksellers a free one-year subscription to print issues, special editions, and online premium content.

Booksellers attending one of the upcoming Spring Forums are invited to sign up to test drive an ABA membership through August 31.
