Booksellers, authors, publishers, distributors, and others with ties to the book industry are invited to submit nominations for Publishers Weekly’s Bookstore and Sales Rep of the Year awards by January 8, 2019.

The chances of winning a scholarship are high, so booksellers are encouraged to submit their names as soon as possible.

Registrants who are no longer planning to attend the 2019 Winter Institute are asked to notify the American Booksellers Association as soon as possible so waitlisted booksellers can be offered a chance to attend.

All Winter Institute attendees, including ABA member booksellers and their families as well as publishers, can sign up for the full-day trip to Ski Santa Fe on January 26.

Registration for a trip to Ski Santa Fe resort is now open to all Winter Institute attendees, including ABA member booksellers and their families as well as publishers.

This year, 37 publishers and university presses are offering ABA member booksellers special terms for Indies First on Small Business Saturday.

Registered booksellers who are no longer able to attend are asked to notify ABA as soon as possible so waiting booksellers can be offered a chance to register. A full refund will be offered through this Friday, November 16.

Sessions booksellers can sign up for include “Developing Leaders in Your Store, with Alden Mills,” which will feature an overview of strategies to help owners and managers nurture promising booksellers.

The new “Libros Para el Viaje/Books for the Journey” campaign will be collecting gently used books for individuals and families who have arrived at the U.S.-Mexico border with nothing.

ABA is inviting booksellers to sign up now to join their colleagues for a ski trip on Saturday, January 26, immediately following Winter Institute 14 in Albuquerque.

On Wednesday, November 7, stores received an e-mail with a link to a survey seeking bookseller input about group health insurance options; responses are due Monday, November 19.

A full refund will be offered through November 16. Booksellers on the waitlist will be notified on a first-come, first-served basis if cancellations are received. 

“We love the special terms and it’s good for our bottom line when we get behind a book,” said Bill Reilly, co-owner of the river’s end bookstore.
