Booksellers are encouraged to complete the annual Independent Business Survey, a link to which was sent in an e-mail from the American Booksellers Association on January 7. The survey is being conducted by the Institute for Local Self-Reliance (ILSR) and the Advocates for Independent Business (AIB).

The survey is fully confidential and takes just 10 minutes to complete.

All ABA members are encouraged to participate in the survey, as it will assist the ILSR and AIB in determining how independent businesses are faring, whether people are more aware and supportive of independent businesses, and some of the main challenges and policy issues affecting independent businesses.

Last year, more than 2,600 independent businesses completed the survey, providing critical information that was featured in national and local news stories throughout the nation.

General questions about the survey should be addressed to Stacy Mitchell, co-director of the Institute for Local Self-Reliance and coordinator of Advocates for Independent Business. ABA members that did not receive a link to the survey should contact Dan Cullen, ABA chief strategy officer.
