Lord of the Rings Display Contest Winners Headed to NYC

The Grand Prize-winning display at Brace Books & More.

Winners of The Lord of the Rings Bookseller Display Contest, both online and in-store promotions, have been announced. The Grand Prize winner of the in-store contest is Brace Books and More in Ponca City, Oklahoma. The First Prize winner is Oregon State University Bookstore in Corvallis, Oregon.

The Grand Prize winner of the online division is Storybook Cove in Hanover, Massachusetts, for its Web page at www.storybookcove.com, and the First Prize winner is Jackson Books of Salem, Oregon, for its Web page at www.jacksonsbooks.com.

As grand-prize winners, Brace Books assistant manager Marsha Ann Hiskett and bookseller Luann Harris will attend the invitation-only press screening of The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, on December 12, during their all-expenses-paid trip to New York. Janet and Joanne Bibeau of Storybook Cove will receive a Houghton Mifflin Tolkien Library. The first-place winners will receive various film accoutrements.

BookSense.com Marketing Manager Meg Smith explained that the contests recognized the creativity of booksellers in mounting striking and engaging displays both in their stores and on their Web sites to promote the work of J.R.R.Tolkien.
