Winter Institute

Booksellers will hear from panelists who will discuss what they have learned over the past year about managing online sales as well as best practices for efficiency. 

In this session, attendees will hear from both bookseller panelists and LGBTQ+ romance authors.

The session will feature a panel of neurodiverse individuals and advocates discussing challenges and concerns neurodiverse employees experience in the workplace and customers experience in the store.

Handwriter Ink will be providing American Sign Language interpreting services for a number of events at Wi16, sponsored in part by Biblio.com, the Book Industry Charitable Foundation, and Bookazine.

The conversation will center on a chapter of Dr. Stephanie Pinder-Amaker and Dr. Lauren Wadsworth’s book, Did That Just Happen?!: Beyond “Diversity” ― Creating Sustainable and Inclusive Organizations.

The February 19 session will cover monitoring or creating a budget, responding to changing business conditions, managing cash flow, and monitoring important benchmarking data to track progress and meet yearly goals.

Trivia enthusiasts are invited to a Virtual Trivia Night on February 20. Players do not have to be booksellers or registered for Winter Institute to attend. The deadline to sign up is February 17.

Booksellers can sign up now for virtual one-on-ones with members of ABA’s IndieCommerce team, open to current IndieCommerce and IndieLite members as well as to non-members.

Wi16 attendees are invited to send in questions for select sessions ahead of time; questions must be submitted by this coming Friday, January 29.
