Still time to sign up to become a Neighborhood Champion
Booksellers can ramp up their publicity efforts for Small Business Saturday with free marketing materials from American Express/Shop Small, including e-mail and press release templates, logos, and in-store signage, now available in the Bookseller DIY’s Designs & Downloads.
The American Booksellers Association has chosen the materials for their relevance to independent bookstores from the Small Business Saturday Toolkit created by American Express. Booksellers are encouraged to use the templates in conjunction with their Indies First promotions to create marketing materials to publicize their businesses and attract new customers.
By logging in on the Small Business Saturday website, businesses that accept American Express cards can also add their names to the Shop Small map and be included in the American Express card member offer.
There’s also still time to sign up to become a Neighborhood Champion for this year’s celebration. Those who register by October 29 will receive a Small Business Saturday Event Kit containing branded merchandise to help with their efforts. Last year, Neighborhood Champions made an impact by:
- Organizing an event or promotion in their neighborhoods to get people involved
- Rallying local businesses to participate in Small Business Saturday
- Encouraging their community to support and shop at small businesses on the day
