ABC Best Books for Children Catalog on its Way

This year’s full-color, 20-page ABC Best Books for Children Catalog featuring more than 200 fully vetted frontlist and backlist titles is slated to arrive at all ABA member stores by next week.

Stores that ordered imprinted copies of the catalog should receive them by the end of this week, and all other catalogs should arrive next week.  Members of the ABC Children’s Group at ABA (ABC Group) are automatically being sent 250 free catalogs with no imprinting; all other ABA member stores are automatically being sent 50 free catalogs with no imprinting.

The catalog carries no fourth quarter branding so booksellers can use it throughout the year. The catalog cover, which was chosen by the ABC Advisory Council, features artwork by Judy Schachner from her new book, Skippyjon Jones: Class Action (Dutton Children’s Books). The back cover includes a half-page of white space, where booksellers who haven’t already imprinted their catalogs can add their store name, address, telephone number, e-mail and web addresses, logo, and more.

For several bookstores, including Anderson’s Bookshops in Naperville, Illinois; Colgate Bookstore in Hamilton, New York; and Riverwalk Books in Chelan, Washington,  another key bit of information on the catalog is a QR code. Each ordered catalogs imprinted with their usual store information as well as QR codes that direct consumers to the store website and/or Facebook and Twitter pages. Stores that did not order imprinted catalogs can add a sticker with store information and QR codes on the back of the catalog.

For this year only, the ABC Best Books for Children catalog is taking the place of the Fall Kids’ Indie Next List. Watch for a PDF version of the catalog in next week’s edition of BTW.

Booksellers with questions about the catalog should contact ABA Industry Relations Assistant Carolyn Bennett via e-mail or at (800) 637-0037, ext. 6645.
