Saturday, November 10, marked the beginning of the weeklong celebration of Love Your Bookstore, a new retail holiday that will continue through the newly extended deadline of Sunday, November 18. All week, readers nationwide are taking part in the #LoveYourBookstore challenge, which asks participants to simply snap a picture with the book they are most excited to gift or receive this holiday season and post it with the tag #loveyourbookstore on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. Participants are automatically entered to win tons of bookish prizes.
The founding sponsors of Love Your Bookstore are Sourcebooks, Publishers Weekly, Barnes & Noble, Books-A-Million, Penguin Random House, HarperCollins, Abrams, LitHub, Grove Atlantic, the Children’s Book Council, BookCon, and Libro.fm.
Take a look at some of the indie stores readers love:
@kimmerymartin, author of The Queen of Hearts (Penguin, 2018) visited Park Road Books in Charlotte, North Carolina, with her family.
@bookwormtrail visited The Last Bookstore in Los Angeles, California: “I’m pretty lucky to have access to lots of bookstores where I live, but the one I love going back to is @thelastbookstorela. They have an amazing selection of books AND fantastic displays!”
@magpiewrites, author of The Grief Keeper (Penguin/Putnam, 2019) picked up a book at Newtown Bookshop in Newtown, Pennsylvania.
@bryanrobinsonauthor shared on Instagram: “Malaprop’s is my favorite indie bookstore here in Asheville. With the café and bookshelves all around, it’s a haven for all readers and writers.”
