Two booksellers have been added to the ranks of 2014 Winter Institute presenters and panelists, announced last week by the American Booksellers Association.

Doug Robinson of Eagle Eye Book Shop (Decatur, Georgia) will partner with P.K. Sindwani of Towne Book Center & Café (Collegeville, Pennsylvania) to present the Wednesday, January 22, session “Managing Cash Flow, Part I: The System.”

And Jessilyn Norcross of McLean & Eakin Booksellers (Petoskey, Michigan) will join Richard Howorth of Square Books (Oxford, Mississippi) and Valerie Lewis of Hicklebee’s (San Jose, California) as a panelist for the Thursday, January 23, “Advanced Learning Session: Bookseller ‘Shark Tank’ — Pitch an Idea for Business Expansion.” (See complete session descriptions.)

Also growing is the list of authors who will be appearing at either the Winter Institute’s Author Reception, on Thursday evening, January 23, or the Small Press Reception, on Friday evening, January 24. Check the Winter Institute’s Author page often, as new authors are being added on an ongoing basis, as are offers from publishers for advance print or e-galleys. (If an advance galley is available, publisher contact information appears at the end of an author’s bio.)

In addition, there is still time for Wi9 registrants to make appointments to meet with representatives of ABA’s affiliated business solution partners, POS vendors, and other service providers who will be taking part in the Consultation Station, on Thursday, January 23, from 10:15 a.m. to 4:15 p.m., and on Friday, January 24, from 10:15 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. See the list of participants and make an appointment now.

Winter Institute attendees who are in Seattle early can attend the Seattle Gift Show free of charge. The event, at the Washington State Convention Center from Saturday, January 18, through Tuesday, January 21, will feature more than 10,000 innovative products. To receive a complimentary admission and a lunch voucher, Winter Institute registrants should send an e-mail to the show’s Jhana Jordan with their bookstore name and the names of each staff member who would like to attend. Those who pre-register will receive a full-color product preview guide. For more information, visit the Seattle Gift Show website.

With booksellers still on waiting lists to register for the Winter Institute, and for a hotel reservation at the Wi9 rate at the Westin Seattle, ABA reminds anyone whose plans have changed to send an e-mail to [email protected]. If cancellations are received, ABA will contact booksellers on the lists on a first-come, first-served basis.
