Pre-order Campaign - Glennon Doyles Untamed Journal

Glennon Doyle, author of Untamed will be referring her followers on social media sometime today (4/29/21) to Indiebound.org as a source for pre-ordering her new journal (blank book). Since this item is a journal and not a “book”, stores that want to participate in this promotion need to carefully review these steps if they wish to participate in this pre-order campaign. Please note that the instructions vary depending on if you have an IndieCommerce or IndieLite website. IndieCommerce 

  1. Enable Ingram - Department Code T

    1. Store > Configuration > Account Information and Preferences > Configure Book Settings > Sell Calendars, Maps, blank books, and other book-like sideline items (Ingram Department Code T)
  2. Accept pre-orders 9 months out

    1. Store > Configuration > Account Information and Preferences > Configure Book Settings > Allow Pre-order of Books Within...
  3. Restrict Media Mail shipping options for products not eligible for Media Mail

    1. Store > Configuration > Shipping Quotes 
    2. Click on the ‘Conditions’ link for Media Mail
    3. Add Condition 
    4. Select the conditions to add 
    5. From the drop down, select “Check that all book products in an order are eligible for Media Mail”
    6. Save
  4. Restrict Payment Method - This is a pre-order, so you may want to consider prepayment via Credit Card or Paypal

    1. Process the order and mark it as “Payment Received” to capture the payment before the authorization on the credit card expires
  5. Create a block or page to promote this journal
  6. Test it

IndieLite 

  1. Enable Ingram - Department Code T

    1. Store > Configuration > Account Information and Preferences > Store Preferences > Sell Calendars, Maps, blank books, and other book-like sideline items (Ingram Department Code T)
  2. Make this journal available for your customers to purchase. Please note that the changes recommended for this journal will affect all pre-order titles. This is a pre-order with a pub date of Nov/23/21. By default IL stores can accept pre-orders only 4 months out

    1. Option #1 - Keep pre-orders limited to 4 months, and allow customer to purchase ‘Not Yet Published’ titles

      1. Store > Configuration > Account Information and Preferences > Store Preferences > Enable “Always show pre-order badge”
      2. Store > Configuration > Account Information and Preferences > Store Preferences > Enable “Not Yet Published”
    2. Option #2 - Extend pre-order purchases to 9 months

      1. Contact [email protected] and the IC staff can make the change. 
  3. Restrict Media Mail shipping option for products not eligible for Media Mail

    1. Please contact [email protected] to take care of this
  4. Restrict Payment Method - This is a pre-order, so you may want to consider prepayment via Credit Card.

    1. Post a message on the site that prepayment is required for all preorders
    2. Process the order and mark it as “Payment Received” to capture the payment before the authorization on the credit card expires
  5. Create a page or block to promote this journal
  6. Test it
